2023 City of Sand Point Notice of Election & Sample Ballot
The City of Sand Point will have it’s Regular Election on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023.
THE POLLING PLACE WILL BE OPEN 8:00 A.M. TO 8 P.M. ON OCTOBER 3, 2023 AND THE POLLING PLACE WILL BE LOCATED AS FOLLOWS:
Sand Point Municipal Bldg.
ABSENTEE VOTING IN PERSON WILL BE OPEN FROM SEPTEMBER 13TH THROUGH SEPTEMBER 29TH. ALL MAIL BALLOTS MUST BE RECIEVED BY OCTOBER 6TH.
To Obtain an application for absentee voting or if you have questions, contact the Sand Point city clerk.

Sand Point City Council will hold their special meeting on Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 at 4PM.
– The meeting featured the adoption of two resolutions. One proposing an across the board increase of water and wastewater from the city by 5% and the other adopting the 2nd reading of the FY24 City Budget.
– The meeting also had an executive session with council and mayor interviewing candidates for the position of City Administrator. After coming out of executive session the council approved a motion for the mayor to negotiate a contract with Debi Schmidt for the position.

Heliostar – Unga Island Project Meeting on Monday, May 15 from 5:30-7:30 pm

Sean Solie here with the Heliostar Metals – Unga Island Project team. We are excited to inform you that we will be back in Sand Point this month for a community meeting on Monday, May 15 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the QTT Community Center. Members of the Heliostar team will be present to provide a general update on the project, recent corporate activities, and to discuss future plans for the Unga Project. A Q&A session will follow the presentation.
Similar to past meetings, food will be provided, as well as some fun door prizes. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit, trains and supervises SPVFD volunteers and recommends the number and kind of companies of the department. Recommend potential members from an applicant pool. Enforces a comprehensive set of rules and regulations governing the disciplines, training and operations of the SPVFFD as directed. Assist EMS calls as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Good driving record. Must be at least 21 years of age. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Preferred: CPR/Hazwopper training. Prior membership in volunteer fire department. Prior training in emergency response practices.
