from the PDF: “ADF&G Releases Total GHLs for Tanner Crab Seasons in South Peninsula, Chignik and Kodiak Districts”

The Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G) has completed analysis of the 2011 Tanner crab survey results for the South Peninsula, Chignik and Kodiak districts. The South Peninsula District will open for Tanner crab fishing in January 2012 with a total guideline harvest level (GHL) of 1,620,000 pounds. The Chignik District will open with a total GHL of 700,000 pounds. The Kodiak District will open with a total GHL of 950,000 pounds.

The Shumagin Corporation 2011-2012 Buffalo Hunt $150 Non-refundable tickets are now available for purchase at the Shumagin Office from 10AM to 3PM until noon on Friday. October 28, 2011. Tickets are available to Shareholders and one year residents and are limited to one per household. The ticket drawings will take place on October 28, 2011 at 12:30PM. Hunting will take place between November 1, 2011 and January 31, 2012 for winning ticket holders after they have obtained a tag.

Sand Point Walk for the Cure

A special thanks to Sand Point for your generosity and support  for our cause. The 3rd annual Walk for the Cure had the most successful fundraiser to date, raising over $7000. All proceeds will be used to help those in our community in their most difficult times. A special thanks goes out to Peter Pan Seafoods, Trident Seafoods, The City of Sand Point, Pen Air, Coastal Transportation, WASTAC, ACE, Sand Point Pool, Alaska Commercial Company, Harbor Cafe, Saylor Salon, The Aleut Corporation, Cut-R-Loose Coffee, Paula Cabot, John Gardner, Local artists; Gloria Gronholdt, Marilyn Larsen, Carla Chebetnoy, Debra Gundersen, Robin Gilmour and Christine Nielsen.
