The United Way in Anchorage has partnered with the Rasmuson Foundation to create a donation driven fund to be used to help people across our State who are at direct risk of not being able to pay current rent, utilities or childcare due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The group has asked SWAMC to partner with them in order to quickly get emergency funding to the region through May 31. The SWAMC Board of Directors approved the partnership and hopes to be able to help folks who have a direct and verifiable link to Shelter in Place restrictions, business closures or reductions that started mid-March in order to be eligible for immediate financial assistance as intended by the AK CAN DO partnership. The successful applicants will provide a complete application with contact information for landlords, utility providers and childcare providers as listed on the application with guidelines in the introduction letter. This emergency funding is for those who have been laid off, furloughed or had their hours significantly cut because of the pandemic.

Executive session was turned into open session at the Aleutians East Borough School Board meeting, after the employee in question waived their privacy rights. Both sides of the complaint were given 30 minutes to provide their statements and arguments. After which, an executive session ensued in which the board deliberated and made a decision.

Job Duties: The Office Assistant duties may include general business office clerk duties, which include but are not limited to: managing filing systems; recording information as needed; updating paperwork, maintaining documents and word processing; organizing travel by booking accommodations and reservations; coordinating events, maintaining supplies inventory; creating, maintaining, and entering data into Excel spreadsheets. Other various duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
1. Range V: Salary $18.54 to $21.26 per hour – DOE.
2. Work week: Monday through Friday – up to 20.0 hours per week.
3. Term: 10 months – August through May
4. Benefits may include state retirement plan, personal and sick leave. Health care coverage is currently not offered with this position.
