CATTLE ON TWO REFUGE ISLANDS
Open House – Public Invited
January 15 7:00 PM
QTT Community Center, Sand Point, Alaska
Learn more about unauthorized cattle on two refuge islands.
•  Refuge purposes must be met – Wosnesenski and Chirikof islands are part of Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. Like all national wildlife refuges, they are places where needs of wildlife must come first.
•  Cattle are unauthorized – There are no permits or leases allowing livestock grazing.
•  Cattle are causing damage – The presence of unregulated cattle on these islands has caused and continues to cause damage to refuge natural resources.
•  We welcome public input – The refuge is beginning public planning to develop alternatives for this issue, with the goal of ending unauthorized cattle grazing on these two refuge islands.
