Declaration of Candidacy Forms are now being accepted for the following:
City Council Seat A Three (3) Year Term City Council Seat C Three (3) Year Term
SECTION 2.20.020 (A) STATES: A member of the City Council shall be a qualified voter of the City of Sand Point who has been a resident of the City of Sand Point for at least one year immediately preceding his or her filing for office.
Declaration of Candidacy forms are available in the City Clerk’s office. For more information, contact the City Clerk, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Say It Ain’t So! Tustumena Down All Year?! Never fear, Kennicott is here! (For one trip at least)
DOT has just announced that the Tustumena will not be making any of its scheduled stops this summer. On the bright side the Kennicott will be making ONE and only one stop on the chain. It will arrive on September 22nd in Sand Point and return here on the 24th of September. If you want to make a booking do it fast!
Robert E. Galovin Small Boat Harbor Renovation
During the rebuild of the Robert E. Galovin Small Boat Harbor, scheduled to start September 2013 and be completed in January 2014, the City asks that you do not enter into the harbor with any bags of Pollock as this is a welcome sign for the sea lions. Any sea lion in the harbor will bring construction to a halt. We need YOU, the fishers, to work with us (the City and the construction company, Pacific Pile and Marine) to make the rebuild go as smoothly as possible and be completed in a timely fashion.
Also, when the rebuild starts, there will be a lot of shuffling of boats. Chances are, you will have to use the transient float at the new harbor and there may be times you will have to raft up. This may seem like a big inconvenience, however, in order to have the rebuild completed as quickly as possible, we are asking for your help and cooperation.
Job Opening!: City Clerk
The position of City Clerk is now open for applicants. This position will report directly to the Mayor and the City Council. Pay is dependent upon experience but will include benefits. All interested individuals should submit an application to the city office. Give them a call at 383 2696 for more details!
Job Opening: Protected Species Observer
Pacific Pile and Marine is looking for two people to do observation for Stellar Eiders, Sea Otters and Stellar Sea Lions during the construction of the boat harbor.
Both positions are on an as needed basis and will pay either $20 or $25 an hour. If you are interested please submit a resume to the City Clerks office.
