*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE * *June 11, 2010* *Alaska** Retirement Management Board Settles Lawsuit * *Against Former Pension Actuary* *Half-a-billion dollar payment likely the largest on record nationally* *Anchorage, Alaska** *– Attorney General Dan Sullivan announced today that the Alaska Retirement Management Board (ARM Board) has settled the lawsuit against its former actuary, Mercer, regarding claims of professional malpractice, breach of contract and unfair trade practices in advising the state on management of the Alaska Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) and the State of Alaska Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS), which face billions of dollars in unfunded liabilities. Biography: Born in Tucson, Arizona, Austin’s family moved to Norfolk, Virginia early in his life for his father to enter law school. In 2004, Austin matriculated to college from Norfolk Christian Schools with an advanced academic diploma.  In 2007, Austin transitioned to the West Coast where he met his bride, Cheryl Adams. In 2009, Austin and his wife departed California and drove the Alcan Highway to Alaska where they settled in Sand Point, Cheryl’s hometown. Together, until late 2010, they operated a popular Sand Point coffee shop called Cut ‘R Loose. In addition to his work at the radio station, Austin is pursing a Bachelors of Divinity degree, as well as working part time, early mornings, for the Aleutians East Borough School District.

830AM KSDP Radio / Aleutian Peninsula Broadcasting, Inc. will begin later in July to distribute programming on the state satellite system. The station’s online feed will be received in Fairbanks at the University of Alaska where it will be uplinked to the satellite. This means that KSDP programming, including Meet the People and other locally produced programs, will be available to the other 25 Alaska Public Broadcasting radio affiliates.
830AM KSDP Radio / Aleutian Peninsula Broadcasting, Inc. members will be in receipt of election ballots by the middle of next week. Ballots must be returned to the station no later than 5PM, July 2, 2009. The Annual Meeting will take place @ 7PM, July 2, 2009 at the radio station located on the 1st floor of the Sand Point City Building. All are welcome to attend.
830AM KSDP Radio / Aleutian Peninsula Broadcasting, Inc. now broadcasts in both analog and digital. The analog signal remains the same as before the upgrade, and non-HD radio units continue to work as before. HD equipped units are now able to take advantage of the station’s digital signal. Many radio stations are making the digital upgrade to provide HD quality reception.
