Wow! What great Geography Bee competitors!
The three finalist all fought hard for their seat in the finals, each earning 6 out of 7 successful answers in the preliminary rounds. Thanks to all of the student competitors grades 4 through 6, your preparation and thoughtful competition made the Bee fun to watch. It even had the audience cheering your many successes. We all want to say a special thank you to Mr. Patrick Brown (former Bee winner), Mr. Mike Seiler (Social Studies Teacher), and Mr. Marc Donadieu (English Teacher) for your wonderful, articulate, and dedicated service as judges for the Geography Bee. Sand Point School Geography Bee was held December 13th. Congratulation to Madison Thompson earning first place by correctly answering in 9 out of ten rounds. Congratulation also to Logan Thomson for earning second place and Griffin Lee for earning third place. It was a tough battle and all of the competitors represented our school honorably. Great job students. Thanks again to our judges and students. Thank you also to our teachers, support staff, and parents for your support and help in preparing our students for the Geography Bee and supporting the Bee during the event.

The Alaska Native Heritage Center has received a one year Administration for Native Americans grant to assess the language resources in Alaska as well as language learners, specifically in Anchorage, but potentially in the state, country or world. We will apply for the next three year grant to begin teaching languages in 2013. ANHC is more interested in partnering with existing programs or finding the easiest and most economical way to grant access to all Native Alaskans committed to learning their languages.
Please complete the survey to help us determine which languages should be offered.
